What to take to your agent

Your agent builds the application from your details, so the visit goes faster when you bring:

• Your green barcoded ID book or smart ID card
• Your competency certificate, or the Statement of Results from your training if the competency is still to be applied for
• For a renewal: your current firearm licence card
• For a new licence: the dealer's details and the firearm's make, calibre and serial number
• Proof of address that is not older than three months
• Details of your safe: where it is installed and how it is fixed
• Any club or association membership certificates (dedicated status, hunting or sport shooting)

The agent prepares the SAPS forms, the motivation letter and a checklist for your exact situation. You check everything, sign where needed and hand it in at your SAPS designated firearms office.
