How Firearm License Pro SA works

You fill in your details once. We turn them into a complete, SAPS-ready application — every time you need one, for the rest of the time you own firearms.

1. Create your account

Free. No card, no commitment. You can look around before you decide anything.

2. Fill in your profile once

Your details, your address, your employment, your safe, your competency and training, the firearms you already hold, and the SAPS declarations. This is the part that takes real time — and you only do it once, ever. Every future application, renewal and appeal reuses it.

3. Choose your application

New firearm licence, firearm renewal, new competency, competency renewal, a Section 20 business application, a change of address, or an appeal against a refusal.

4. Answer a short set of questions

Which section, which firearm, your reasons. One thing at a time, in plain English. Where a question does not apply to you, we do not ask it.

5. We build the pack

The correct SAPS form filled from your profile, a motivation letter written for your section and your circumstances, and a document checklist for your situation.

6. Check it, print it, sign it

Read the letter. It is about you, so it should sound like you. Change anything you want changed and regenerate.

7. Lodge it at your SAPS station

With your Designated Firearm Officer, at the station covering your home address. Get the receipt.

8. Track it, free

Record the reference number and log each status change. We check in if nothing moves for a month, and remind you four months before anything expires.

What you get

Where the motivation letter comes from

It is generated from your profile — your age and circumstances, your employment, your address, your competency and any further training, every firearm you already hold, your declarations, your club or association memberships and dedicated status, and the published crime figures for your own SAPS precinct where the section allows it.

It stays inside the section's permitted angle by design. It will not write a self-defence sentence into a Section 15 letter, because that is a refusal. More on motivation letters →

What is free

You pay when you unlock a completed application pack. See pricing.

In any official language

The app runs in South Africa's official languages, so the person filling in the form can work in the language they think in. The SAPS forms themselves are submitted as SAPS requires them.

Let us prepare it for you

Firearm License Pro SA builds your complete SAPS-ready application from the details on your profile — the correct SAPS form, a motivation letter written for your section, and a checklist of the supporting documents you need for your first application. You check it, print it, and hand it in.
